Vrindavan, often called the "City of Temples," is home to over 5,000 temples, each dedicated to Lord Krishna and his divine pastimes. These temples, ranging from ancient, historic structures to newer establishments, create a spiritual atmosphere that attracts pilgrims and visitors from around the world. The sacred town’s temples offer a blend of devotion, architecture, and the timeless stories of Krishna, making Vrindavan a significant destination for those seeking spiritual enlightenment and peace.
The Madana-Mohana Temple, established by Srila Sanatan Goswami, is Vrindavan's first red stone temple, originally built in a forest. Standing 60 feet tall, the original deity was moved to Karauli, Rajasthan, in 1670 for protection from Emperor Aurangzeb's attack. A newer Madana-Mohana Temple at the foothills, built by Sri Nand Kumar Bose of Bengal, also houses Madan Mohan deities.
